Abstract

The results of investigation of 60Co and 54Mn sorption kinetics on nature and modified sorbents are given in the paper. The sorbents used in this work were: bentonites from Cherkassy deposit (natural and Na-modified (PBA-20)); Horbkivskе deposit; Black Hill (Ca-form); Rokla (Na-form); zeolites from Sokirnitske deposit (natural, alkali- and acid-modified); palygorskite. It was founded out that industrial-modified by sodium bentonites PBA-20, Rokla and alkali-modified zeolite were the most effective among all investigated sorbents. It means that modification of natural sorbents by sodium leads to rise in sorption manyfold. The percent of water-soluble form of Co and Mn sorption on investigated natural and modified sorbents was insignificant and did not exceed 6%. Maximum of Co ion-exchange form was for bentonites PBA-20 (45%), Rokla (60%), alkali-modified zeolite (65%), and Mn – for alkali-modified zeolite (45.5%). Maximum of Co acid-soluble sorption form was determined for sorption on bentonite PBA-20 and alkali-modified zeolite (35 and 40% accordingly). Maximum of acid-soluble sorption form of Mn was near 30% for sorption on alkali-modified zeolite. The strongest (domination of acid-soluble and residual form) fixation of Co and Mn was in case of sorption on industrial-modified bentonites by sodium PBA-20, Rokla and alkali-modified under laboratory conditions zeolite.
